“Cider evokes a different emotional response that's hard to pin down—the thrill of something familiar, yet new.” - Jason Wilson
Back in September, Travel & Leisure featured us in an article written by Jason Wilson.
Jason visited the area recently and spoke with several cider makers, including Steve at South Hill Cider. "The only difference between what people call wine and what we call cider is the fruit it's made from," said Steve. Jason went on to talk about other area attractions in idyllic Trumansburg with Gimme coffee, Hazelnut Kitchen and the Farmer’s Market on Wednesday evenings where you can taste other local ciders like Redbyrd Orchard Cider and Black Diamond Cider. Jason then went on to talk about the food scene in Geneva, located on tip of Seneca Lake.
The lakes modulate winters and cool summers, along with well-drained soils makes the perfect combination for being the best fruit growing region. Come visit the Finger Lakes and see for yourself why this region is so unique and continues to evolve.
The Finger Lakes has a great community of cider makers. It’s nice to see it get recognition on this level. Thank you to Jason Wilson and Travel & Leisure for the feature.
