“I had a big imagination when I was a kid,

especially whenever my family and I would travel,

I would look out of the car or plane window for hours creating moving scenes and creatures,

but they would always leave when I shut the door,

and as I grew up,

I looked out the window less and less.

I always kept my foot in that imaginary door,

with every drawing I create it opens more and more,

welcome to my journey to reopen that door.”

Mama Look! with Juge Greenspun @ South Hill Cider

Join us for a glass of cider, coctail or local beer, and farm to table food.

Mama Look! is the convergence of three singer-songwriters in the Finger Lakes, united by their deep admiration for one another’s musical and artistic journeys. For decades, Uniit Carruyo, McKenzie Jones & Amy Puryear stood as mutual supporters, but Mama Look! marks their first opportunity to create, play and shine together.
Their perspectives have been shaped by the love, grief and joy of being mamas. These many threads are woven through their songwriting, spinning tales of vulnerability and strength. Their music is raw and tender, fierce and luminous, reflecting the complexity of lives lived with open hearts. With two guitars, one cello, three distinct voices, and a rotating constellation of leadership and support, Mama Look! is a radiant celebration of connection.

Mama Look! invites audiences to join in the magic of their music ~ a community of women giving light, not dimming it, collaborating not competing. Their love for music and one another is contagious!

Juge Greenspun

Playing songs off his new record and joined by Tom Gilbert on drums (Donna the Buffalo), Angelo Paradiso on bass (Big Mean Sound Machine, Donna the Buffalo, Jim Lauderdale), and Jon Petronzio on keys (John Brown's Body, The Comb Down, Roadman).

Cider by the glass, cocktails, local beer, farm-to-table food, and live music

Meet the artist:

Rena Guinn is a singer-songwriter at heart. Her love of folk, old-style country, rock and roll, blues, and Americana, deeply influences her songs. Her father was a musician, singer, and songwriter and raised her to be an avid listener and connoisseur of real music.

You will find her with her acoustic guitar and foot tambourine, singing her heart out. She has a way of sharing emotion through her voice that grabs the listener and leaves them wanting more. Her songs can be graceful and soft and also, edgy, honest, and fiery. She is not afraid to lay out the truth or be vulnerable with her life challenges and joys and share them with the audience. Her vocal range and exploration have been known to silence a bar and tug on the heartstrings. She will have you dancing, swaying, and maybe crying. In 2021 she released her debut EP, titled, 'Shine.' Recorded at Sunwood Recording in Trumansburg NY with owner and engineer, Chris Ploss. She was accompanied by many talented musicians from the Ithaca area. This EP was produced by musician and Producer, Bill Ring.

What is Raclette?

Raclette has more than one definition. Raclette is a Swiss cheese dish, a cultural landmark, the name of a cheese, a tabletop appliance, a dining experience, and a great time!

Raclette is very popular in Europe, especially in the Swiss Alps and other ski regions.

Back in the day, Swiss shepherds from the French-speaking Valais region needed to bring food up to the Alps that was relatively cheap and wouldn’t spoil easily in the hot summer months. So they brought cheese and potatoes. While the potatoes roasted in the fire, a big piece of cheese was put close to the fire. Once it started melting the cheese was taken away and scraped off the cheese onto the baked potatoes. This was not only filling and nourishing but also delicious. In French ‘to scrape’ translates to ‘racler’ and this is where the term Raclette comes from.

In addition to singing and playing guitar, he’s played mandolin, banjo, tenor guitar or tiple when the need arose.

Kevin Wimmer studied for years with his mentor, Dewey Balfa, as well as Canray Fontenot, Dennis McGee, Carlton Frank, Bois-Sec Ardoin, and really anyone who he could get to sit on a porch and play with him for a few hours. You may have caught Kevin playing live with Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, Balfa Toujours, the Red Stick Ramblers, and the Racines,. Kevin has taught at Ashokan Root Camp, the Swannanoa Gathering, Augusta Heritage Workshops, Black Pot Camp, Lark in the Morning Camp, Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week, Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, in the Traditional Music Program at the University of Louisiana (Lafayette), or around some campfire somewhere. Kevin now lives in Moravia, NY, teaching private lessons when he’s not on the road.

Dave Davies is a talented multi-instrumentalist, singer, arranger, songwriter and teacher from Ithaca, NY. His work in a multitude of musical styles has brought him to venues all around the USA, Central America and Europe. At home on the trombone, guitar and upright and electric bass, you may also find him playing the tuba, ukelele or drums. He's been a solid member of the Northeast music scene for 30 years, playing with Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, Lindy Hop Heaven, Djug Django, The Clayfoot Strutters, Peggy Haine's Lowdown Alligators, The B Side, The Contradictions, The Gourmet Jug Band and leading the HotFoot Club and many other dance bands. Dave has toured extensively as a swing and contra musician, and has been a staff member at Ashokan Fiddle and Dance for over 30 years, and on staff at Augusta Blues and Swing Week for several years. He has a BA in music from SUNY Oswego, and studied with Bobby McFerrin at Omega Institute. Molly Lunn @ First Fridays with South Hill Cider

Join us for cider tastings, local beer, farm-to-table food and local art.

About the Artist:

Molly Lunn is an Ithaca based artist primarily working with acrylic paint on wood. She also works with textiles and shares a studio space with her husband in downtown Ithaca. She’s a mother of two small children and often inspired by creative freedom of early adolescence.

The work explores the loss of personal identity and self and highlights the idea of hormonal mood swings commonly experienced by postpartum mothers. Having recently given birth to her second child, Molly Lunn’s work is meant to examine the roles and expectations set on women in our society. Be happy, bright and put together, while internally having feelings of emotionally falling apart or melting inside.

Although stemming from a serious and real topic, the work is colorful and light-hearted with subtle figural concepts of eyeballs and human toes which target nostalgic memories of Dr. Suess and other classic illustrated children’s books. Shapes drip with movement almost like fuzzy base lines of deep cut funk tracks on vintage vinyl, splattered in bubbling shapes and soaked in rich color.

The pieces are carved pine wood, painted with acrylic paint and UV protected top coat - hanging parts pre-assembled.

"What strikes at first is Jennie's carefully laid - almost naked - vocals on a gorgeous reverb. A genuine instrument that goes from whispering to declamation, almost like a calligraphic technique, striped, powerful, and fragile at the same time. A splendor that perfectly conveys the rainbow of emotions embedded in these songs: trust, distrust, abandonment, hope, envy, fear and disappointment, love - and its absence." What is Raclette?

Cast Iron Cowboys plays South Hill Cider/Golden Hour Concert Series

Join us for our Firday Golden Hour Concert Series.

Cider, farm-to-table menu and live music every Friday.

Cast Iron Cowboys is a six piece country western band whose sound finds a sweet spot between classic blues and homegrown folk. First formed in early 2022, the Cowboys developed a style all their own. Inspired by Appalachian fiddle & banjo bluegrass and vintage country blues, the Cowboys combine a diverse mix of influences across American roots music, breathing new energy into an antique sound. Their ever-expanding repertoire includes original music and covers from a number of decades. Songs are led and sung in harmony by five of the Cowboys and line dancing, taught by band members or local experts, is a staple of their recurring performances. The band creates a welcoming environment with friendly instruction, often accompanied by honky tonk angels ready to help first-timers along. The band’s catalog of music also provides opportunities to two-step, waltz, swing, and stomp your boots along with the Cowboys on stage.

Founders Max Moses and Josh Chamberlain started this adventure because of their sheer passion to perform - and importantly, their love of music that gets people dancing. Max Moses (guitar), Josh Chamberlain (bass), Nate Marshall (piano/harmonica), Joe Hayward (banjo/pedal steel), Zeb Whitford (drums), and Margaret Harper (vocals/mandolin) drive forward a rousing effort that will bring you back to the classics, teach you new ways to move, and leave you wanting more.

Cast Iron Cowboys steadily grows their dedicated fan base, consistently packing venues and adding new friends to the Cast Iron Community. They perform often in Tompkins County, and have taken their talents to cities across New York and PA.

The band’s most recent milestones came in July of 2024 with two performances and the All-star Jam at the 32nd annual Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival the final jam with Donna the Buffalo, and a debut release of original live recordings titled "First Four Miles,” found on all online music streaming platforms.
