#DRYCIDERJANUARY

We have Ten Dry Ciders with No Residual Sugar

For some, dry January means taking a break from alcohol. For others, it means cutting back on alcohol and sugar and we have many dry ciders that we offer with no residual sugar. Dry Cider January is something that the American Cider Association came up with a few years ago as a way to promote ciders with zero grams of sugar.

Distinguishing between fruity and sweet can be challenging, but did you know that many dry ciders can be fruit forward? Here is a list of our ten ciders that contain zero grams of sugar and a brief description of each. We hope you find one to your liking!

Baldwin

This is the dry cider that almost everyone enjoys. The bracing acidity and fine bubbles end with a long mouth-watering finish. It is a single varietal cider made from 100% Baldwin apples that are native to Massachusetts. Baldwin is a dry sparkling cider that is a champagne style with fine bubbles. With notes of grapefruit, lime and kiwi, it is crisp and refreshing!

Brut Nature

An elegant champagne style cider that is fermented with wild and cultured yeasts. It is celebratory with its very fine, lively bubbles! Brut Nature has aromas of honey, woods, and leather, that is briny, floral and thyme on the palate. The finish is chalky and tart. The next vintage will be released this year.

Farmhouse

This cider is an ode to individuality. It is not for everyone! It’s a funky- love it or hate it cider that is rustic, complex and bone dry. It is unfiltered, unrefined, with low or no sulfur. As a natural wine, open it carefully near a glass (might foam over because it is very much alive). The textures come from old-world varieties grown here, and fruit from homestead orchards, with bubbles that are light and delicate. Farmhouse has aromas of cranberry, orange, raw tobacco, mullein, oak and leather with a long finish. We recommend this one to ale drinkers.

Full Bloom Orchard

Full Bloom is our estate cider and comes from apples grown on our organic & biodynamic orchard. It is a natural wine and is wild fermented and has fine, lively bubble. The aromas are tangerine, subtle raspberry, musky, bitter grapefruit, and olive, with a long finish. Pair this one with strong funky cheeses.

Goldwin

This dry, still cider is inspired by the great Burgundian whites and leans on ages of winemaking tradition. The blend is of two American heirloom apple varieties indigenous to the Northeast. It drinks very much like a white wine, with aromas of apricot, early picked white grapes, grapefruit pith and lemon zest.

Kingston Black

A limited batch of traditonal methode champenoise cider from three twenty year old Kingston Black trees on 1/4 acre mature cider orchard. This truly special cider is golden amber in color with a medium delicate bubble. Aromas of rose and spring flowers, neroli, spice and leather. It is full-bodied with floral and citrus flavors on the palate that make this one elegant and complex!

One-of-a-Kind

The apples in this cider come from a small, 4-acre unsprayed orchard planted by Ray & Barbara Reynolds from 1984-2006. It has over 200 varieties planted, including rare & heirloom apples. The harvest was picked by hand and then wild fermented. The color is a light with flavors of pear and buckwheat honey. One-of-a-Kind is smooth and has a lingering tea leaf finish. It is truly one of a kind.

Perry

This was our first ever Perry Cider release. It is a beautiful and elegant, world-class Perry. Traditional method and fermented all the way to dryness, with a natural perceived sweetness. The aromas are vanilla, melon, petrichor, grapefruit pith, and anise. The bubbles are fine and creamy, with a sweet finish. We all agree it is a must try.

Pomme Sur Lie

This cider is made with 100% crab apples and bittersharp cider apples. It is barrel fermented, and aged 18 months sur-lie in French barrels. Pomme Sur Lie is unfiltered and unrefined. This one presents more as a chillable red wine. You will want to let this one relax for a couple of days, and find it more drinkable than on the day it was opened. It is our most red wine like, if you need help deciding which cider might be for you. Aromas of apple-skin, spice, and roasted nuts with a silky, mouth- watering structured acidity and substantial tannins. It is a well balanced cider.

Porter’s Perfection

We just released our 2020 vintage as a method champenoise. Previous vintages were still ciders but this vintage told us it wanted to sparkle. Porter’s Perfection is a single varietal that originated in the 18th century in Somerset, England. We now plant them in our cider orchards. It produces a cider with mouth-watering acidity and mildly astringent yet supple finish. The aromas are earthy, with lime pith and ripe pineapple producing a crisp slightly funky and tart cider.
