Cider Tapas & Pairing Class

  • South Hill Cider 550 Sandbank Road Ithaca, NY, 14850 United States (map)

In April of 2019 Steve and Rachel of South Hill Cider travelled to Spain and were awash in revelatory food and cider experiences. Since then they have vowed to try and bring some of that home with them!

The cider region of Northern Spain - specifically in Asturias and the Basque region - is well-known for its astounding cider culinary traditions.

Enjoy authentic Spanish Tapas paired with cider and learn about the art of Tapas from La Bodega and cider from South Hill Cider.

Class includes 5 Tapas paired with 5 ciders and a demonstration of Jamon Iberico slicing by Maestro Cortador Pedro Liebana. Share and enjoy them again with your friends and family over the holidays!

We are partnering with Pedro Liébana, master ham carver and owner of La Bodega specialty shop in Ithaca for the night to share Tapas with you. Pedro is a Cortador, yes, a master Jamon Iberico ham carver, trained to slice to perfection this incredible product from the Spanish Dehesa. Pedro will demonstrate slicing and we will taste Iberico Ham and enjoy additional Tapas from Spain.
Steve Selin (Cidermaker and orchardist) will discuss his ciders and their production methods, styles and tasting notes.

Rachel Freier (Cheesemonger and SHC Chef) will join in and discuss how to pair cider and Tapas and why she loves pairing these flavors to cider.

Tickets include 5 ciders with 5 Tapas pairings, $55
