Like many musicians Tenzin, a long time local luminary in the singer-songwriter world, has not been playing many shows this year. We are very happy to be able to host him on one of our last shows of the year!

Tenzin Chopak (vocals, guitar, piano, double bass, cello), is an artist and songwriter based in Ithaca, NY. The son of a minister and an artist, and the brother of a fellow musician and songwriter Greg Horne, Tenzin learned to love music in his father’s church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He studied voice, piano, and guitar in his childhood and youth, frequently performing his original music publicly. In 1999, after some years of a burgeoning devotion to the study of Tibetan language and religion, he traveled to North India. It was during his eight month stay there that he was given the name “Tenzin Chopak”. For the following twelve years, while continuing his study of Tibetan in upstate, NY, Tenzin kept music a quiet if not hidden part of his life.

Chopak now performs and records simply under his name “Tenzin Chopak”, and is known for composing and performing music across the genres of roots and progressive chamber folk, world beat influenced rock, and experimental and improvisational music including analog electronica (Moog) and trance mixed with instruments such as cello, piano, double bass, acoustic/electric guitars and voice. Most commonly, he performs with guitar and voice.

Djug Django, Ithaca’s premier ensemble for gypsy swing, jazz standards, Latin rhythms and blues will be hosting an evening packed with music, all in honor of their late drummer, Al Hartland, who passed away from health complications. Proceeds from the event will go to his wife, Cindy Reid, to help pay for medical costs incurred by his condition. Annie Burns will be joining the ensemble for a few songs, renowned Ithaca artist Brian Keeler will be donating a painting for auction, and Barney Cole from Calf Audio will be doing all the sound for the show.

Travis writes some of the most poignant and positive songs. His lyrical imagery and energetic music is both engaging and uplifting. He is an Ithaca College grad who has done tours on foot, makes his own cider, and also can do wonders as naturally on a Steinway as a thumb piano. Long-story-short if you haven't seen him, you should!

The Music begins at 3:00. Rosie Newton and Paul Martin bring love and soul to the music they make. Rosie (Ithaca College performance graduate) and partner Paul Martin (longtime Trumansburg farmer) are in it for the love of the music and you can feel it in their heartfelt songs and beautifully-executed melodies.

Rosie and Paul have been performing together over the past 5 years in various bands and as a duo. Rosie Newton is a singer, fiddler, and accordion player who tours internationally with various projects. She is particularly renowned for her Old Time duo Richie and Rosie, has toured on fiddle with Zydeco legend Preston Frank, as well as with the Canadian folk rock band, the Duhks. Paul Martin is a singer, guitar and bass player, and a fruit and vegetable farmer who owns and runs the beloved Sweet Land Farm in Trumansburg, NY. He toured with Indie Rock bands prior to farming and now enjoys playing dance music and sweet duos with his wife Rosie.
